The Skateboard

A couple of months ago Dusty bought an old little 1992 Mazda pickup to just mess around in and have if he wanted to drive it to work and save on fuel. Now mind you, this little pickup needed a paint job, the front bumper was cut off on each side, it smoked out the tailpipe like crazy and when we first got it you had to start it with a screwdriver but it was fun to drive and Cadyn LOVED it! Well, just for kicks Dusty listed it out on Craig's List about a week ago and within a couple days someone called interested in buying it. So Wednesday night while me and the kids were at church the guy came by to see it and bought it. When we got home and Dusty told Cadyn that he had sold it Cadyn immediately burst into tears! He said he loved that truck and didn't want his dad to sell it! We could not get him to stop crying so this is where the skateboard came into the picture......

We bought Cadyn's cousins Collier and Collin skateboards for Christmas last year and over the summer they started riding them a lot. Well, of course whatever his cousins have Cadyn wants since he thinks he is just as big as them so he has been saving his money for a while now so he can buy a skateboard of his very own! Dusty felt so bad that he was crying over the sold Mazda so he told Cadyn that he would buy him a skateboard with the money he got from the truck. I am sure you can guess that the alligator tears dried up when he heard that! Thus, Dusty and I headed out first thing Thursday morning and bought him a brand new skateboard. He was thrilled when he got home from school and found it! Now, he hasn't spent much time on it yet but I can already see we should have invested in some protective gear. That thing has already bucked him off a couple of times! I think he might need some lessons from his more experienced cousins!

On another note I took Camryn to have pictures made this morning since he is turning "2" next Friday. He did really good and they got some cute pictures of him but that was after we had to convince him that he could sit on the table and it wouldn't "hurt" him. For some reason he was scared and kept saying "it hurts mommy". We get them back in 2 weeks so I will post them so you all can see!

We are off to the lake when Cadyn gets out of school to camp all weekend. This will probably be the last time we get to go out this year so it should be fun! Hope you all have a fun Labor Day weekend!

Saturday

This afternoon we went to a birthday party at Jump Zone for Cadyn's friend Lucas. The boys were in the same Kindergarten class last year and are in the same 1st grade class this year. This was the second time we have been to Jump Zone and my kids just love it there! They both played so hard they were sweatin' buckets by the time they went to eat cake. Cadyn got to see a few of the boys from last year that he was friends with that did not end up in his class this year and they had a blast running around together!

I think he likes sliding on his tummy!

Camryn going down the little toddler slide......

Then Camryn got brave and started climbing up and sliding down the big slides all by himself! The big kids thought it was hilarious that he was trying to keep up with them! My brave boy!

Camryn had to join the big boys at the table for juice and cake!

We ended the evening at my friend April's house. She called and asked us over for pizza and play time so we were excited to go. All the kids played real well together sharing scooters and bicycles! It was a fun day and the kids were completely worn out and ready for bed!

Happy Birthday Dusty

Monday was also Dusty's birthday! Cadyn had fixed him a special card Sunday night and gave his Dad a $1 in it. He got the money out of his own wallet so that made it that much more special to Dusty that he would give his money up as a present to him.

Cadyn was watching anxiously for his Dad's reaction while Camryn was singing "Happy Birthday"

Mimi and Pop had us all over for burgers to celebrate. Cadyn and I had made Dusty a strawberry cake and put the candles on all by himself so we had to light them so he could blow them out.

Dusty, hope you had a great birthday!!

1st Grade

Monday was Cadyn's first day of 1st grade. He was pretty excited to get the day started. When we were walking him into the school I looked over at Dusty and told him that I was nervous and about to cry and I couldn't believe Cadyn was just so calm and not nervous at all! He is so not like Dusty and I who both cried every year on the first day of school until whe graduated! HA! Anyway, Cadyn's teacher seems really nice and we have heard great things about her so I think he is going to have a really fun year!

Turning his attendance card around at his cubby

Camryn thinks is is great fun to be in class with bubba. I think he he would have stayed if he could!

Saying bye to Dad before we left his class

And of course I had to get a picture of Cadyn and Lindsey on their first day of 1st grade so we can see at the end of the year how much they have changed

When I picked Cadyn up Monday from school he said his first day was great and couldn't wait for Tuesday! I just can't believe how big he is getting!! Speaking of getting big, when I went to drop him off Tuesday morning he didn't want me to walk him in. It kinda made me sad that he didn't "need" me! My baby is growing up!

Cadyn Lost His 1st Tooth

**Update**The tooth fairy left $5 and Cadyn was thrilled! He said he heard her in his room tripping over his toys last night! HA!

Cadyn discovered Saturday before we left the lake that he had his 1st loose tooth. He was so excited because it seems like all of his friends have lost several teeth by now and he has been anxiously awaiting the day that one of his would fall out.

Well, His process has gone pretty quick. He messed with it all day Saturday and Sunday trying to loosen it up. Today after we got home he wanted to eat an apple for a snack. After a couple of bites he was complaining that it hurt his loose tooth and when I looked over I saw some blood on his lip. It was really loose! I jokingly told him to use his paper towel and pull it out. He wasn't too sure about that but before I knew it he had disappeared and then all of a sudden I heard footsteps and him pronouncing "It's out, it's out". He had gone to his bathroom and pulled his own tooth! I really didn't think he would listen to me! What a brave boy!!

We had to call Dusty, all the Grandparents and his Cousins to tell them the news! He couldn't hardly wait to get to bed so the tooth fairy could come! He is counting on big money!!!

Blackoak Decoration

Sunday Cadyn and I hitched a ride with Shane and Brandy and we all headed down to the Blackoack Decoration where my Papaw Carey is buried. This is a annual get together that has been going on for years. It usually ends up being somewhat of a little family reunion for the Adams side of the family since that is the only time we get to see most of them. It was rainy and yucky outside this year so not a lot of people showed up so we quickly out our flowers out and then headed back to Mamaw Rene's house for the afternoon.

The dirt road was so muddy when we got ready to leave that Shane volunteered to go get all the cars and bring them to the gravel parking lot so our feet didn't sink in the mud!

Lake Vacation

Hello all! I know it has been a long time but we have been gone to the lake. We packed up and headed out with the Bowers family to Lost Bridge for a week of fun in the sun! It was pretty hot at the beginning of the week but by Thursday a cool front had moved through and the weather was perfect. We had a few problems with the boat not wanting to start but other than that there was lots of swimming, tubing, sunning and fun being had! Michelle and I of course planned our menus out weeks in advance and boy did we eat good! We even treated ourselves to Across the Creek on Friday night. Wednesday we left camp and went to Silver Dollar City for the day since we had not been at all this summer. Cadyn got brave and rode a few "bigger" rides but I have my doubts about getting him on Powder Keg again! It went a little too fast for him and Jeff! We all had a lot of fun but it sure was good to get home!

I just thought this was a funny kodak moment! Dusty was eating his dinner, Spencer was watching with his hands on his hips while Jeff was doing all the work changing Spencer's flat tire!

Lindsey doing a swan jump

We were so surprised with Camryn! He got brave and started jumping off the sun deck on the back of the boat all by himself! He would come up laughing and yelling "again, again"!

Camryn even became an expert swimmer while we were out there. He just started kicking his legs one day and figured out how to control himself and he just swam all over the lake!

Popsicle Party

Last night we had an end of season popsicle party for Cadyn's baseball team. We met at local playground so the kids could play. Even though it was later in the evening it was still SO HOT! So, we all dug into the popsicles pretty quick to cool off. Coach Mackey presented the boys with their medals for the year and then the boys surprised Coach Mackey with a gift card for all the time he put into spending with the boys. It was a fun season!
